The starting line for the first wave!

Marquette, MIJune 5, 2021 – Today we celebrated Connect Marquette’s the 8th annual Iron Range Roll. Over 200 bikers, casual and competitive, raced along the 16-mile stretch of the Iron Ore Heritage Trail between Ishpeming and Marquette. While many attended the event in person, a number of racers rode in the race virtually as well.

mediaBrew joined the event, with our very own Luke Ghiardi emceeing at the starting line. Bikers set out in waves from the Cliffs Shaft Mine Museum in Ishpeming starting at 1pm and traveled along the trail. After racing through Ishpeming and Negaunee, the bikers coasted through to the finish line at the Marquette Commons where Tyler Young was on site playing music.

Following the race, participants and volunteers gathered in the YMCA of Marquette County’s parking lot for an awards ceremony. Starting around 4:30pm, Iron Range Roll Committee Chair, Daniel Croney and Connect Marquette President Shannon Whitehouse hosted the ceremony. They started out by thanking everyone for helping make the event possible, before naming off the first, second, and third place winners for each age division. Racers received a hang cut and burned Iron Range Roll award with the top racers each receiving some swag from Velodrome Coffee as well.
