Bicyclists Challenge 16-mile Race during the Iron Range Roll

Marquette, MIJune 4, 2022 – The Iron Range Roll took place today along the Iron Ore Heritage Trail, starting in Ishpeming and ending in Marquette. Over 200 bikers showed up for the 16-mile bike ride, with competitive and casual bikers taking on the challenge. The Iron Range Roll has been hosted by Connect Marquette for nine years now. The Iron Range Roll is an all-inclusive event to help promote healthy living and donates the money it makes from the event to the YMCA.

The event started in Ishpeming, with many racers gathered around Lake Bancroft for the race to begin at 2 pm. Luke Ghiardi emceed at the starting line with music and called forward each wave of bicyclists.  The race concluded at the Marquette Commons, where Tyler Young was on-site, announcing the names of racers as they crossed the finish line. at the Ore Dock Brewing Company. Friends and families took part in the race, with even more cheering on the racers as they took off on their journey, and celebrated each racer as they crossed the finish line. The 16-mile bike race traveled down the Iron Ore Heritage Trail, passing through Ishpeming, Negaunee, and ending in Marquette.

Connect Marquette has hosted the Iron Range Roll for nine years now and has successfully donated over $30,000 to the youth programs at the YMCA with the proceeds made from the Iron Range Roll. Thank you to all volunteers and racers who have helped make this race possible and a roaring success each year.
