Artist Honors Essential Workers During Marquette Art Week June 21, 2021

As Yooper Shirts’s participation in “Marquette Artweek 2021,” works by Marquette County artist, Paul Olson are being displayed at the store. The collection of paintings, entitled “Essential: How We Work in a Pandemic,” is a group of 10 new paintings done by Olson over the last year that are meant to show the strength and dedication of all the people who were essential workers during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I became captivated by the photos of the workers in all settings,” writes Olson in the Artist’s Statement about the show. “In these paintings, I tried to capture the quiet strength that I’ve seen so many times during this last year.”

Olson’s paintings will be exhibited at Yooper Shirts during Marquette Art Week and will be viewable during the store’s regular business hours.
