Marquette, MI- The Marquette Downtown Development Authority (MDDA) has been awarded a $50,000 Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) Match on Main grant, which is aimed at supporting the COVID-19 economic recovery efforts of small local businesses.This grant will support 15 businesses located within Downtown Marquette’s boundaries. A committee set up by the MDDA determined which applying businesses were selected for inclusion in the application for support and at what desired grant amounts based upon a variety of criteria set forth by both the MEDC and the MDDA. The application window was May 13 through May 22, 2020 for Downtown Marquette businesses.
“We are delighted that the Marquette Downtown Development Authority’s Match on Main application was approved by the MEDC and that 15 of our downtown businesses will be receiving crucial financial support as they recover from the COVID-19 shutdown,” said Rebecca Salmon, MDDA Executive Director. “These funds will help ensure that Downtown Marquette will continue to be a vibrant place for both residents and visitors to enjoy.”
